[i]the_wise_mankey: Wrestling with Predictions: Turning Point '09

TNA's still improving somewhat, but now that Hogan and Bischoff's coming in, there's a chance that will change. But for the time being I do have some predictions for their PPV this Sunday:

SLAP THE PORPOISE. )

I really hope they don't scheduele me too much at work for next week like they have been lately. We'll find out shortly...

[i]life_on_m: Happy Happy Christian Dance

So, it seems that the webmaster for the fundamentalist (and evolution-denying) website Answer in Genesis' Bodgie Hodge has positited a "moral" answer to the hypothetical question:

You know the whereabouts of a family of Jews hiding from the Nazis. A Nazi patrol comes up to you and asks where they are; you, a good God-fearing Christian, can either lie and say you don't know (which would be bad, because, like, lying is a sin), or you could tell the truth, and the Nazis would zip off and search for and presumably execute the family. What do you do?

You know, one of the things I have to give credit to WW2 for is that now, whenever you need an example of something 'bad', we automatically associate to the nazis. It's what I call 'lazy thinking'. Oh, too lazy to think up another example where lying would help someone else? Just throw nazis into the mix! Problem solved! And of course, being that people like Mr Hodge struggle with the idea of anything that doesn't fit into categories other than 'totally good' and 'totally evil', I suppose it's the first place their minds venture towards. Classy guys, real classy.

Anyway, I'm rambling. We all know the correct course of action is "Lie, like your your and other people's lives depend on it, because it does." So let's see what kind of an asshole answer our Mr Hodge weighs in with....

If we love God, we should obey Him (John 14:15). To love God first means to obey Him first--before looking at our neighbor. So, is the greater good trusting God when He says not to lie or trusting in our fallible, sinful minds about the uncertain future?

Consider this carefully. In the situation of a Nazi beating on the door, we have assumed a lie would save a life, but really we don't know. So, one would be opting to lie and disobey God without the certainty of saving a life--keeping in mind that all are ultimately condemned to die physically. Besides, whether one lied or not may not have stopped the Nazi solders from searching the house anyway.

As Christians, we need to keep in mind that Jesus Christ reigns. All authority has been given to Him (Matthew 28:18), and He sits on the throne of God at the right hand of the Father (Acts 2:33; Hebrews 8:1). Nothing can happen without His say. Even Satan could not touch Peter without Christ's approval (Luke 22:31). Regardless, if one were to lie or not, Jesus Christ is in control of timing every person's life and able to discern our motives. It is not for us to worry over what might become, but rather to place our faith and obedience in Christ and to let Him do the reigning. For we do not know the future, whereas God has been telling the end from the beginning (Isaiah 46:10).

Wow.

Just.... Wow.

I really don't think I even need to say anything here. It's as vile and deplorable as it sounds, folks. You can call it what you like; being a backstabbing collaborator, a justification for rank cowardice, insincerity, subconscious antisemitism, delusional instability; there's a whole bunch of things that you COULD go on and reclair are the sources for Hodge's example of hideously immoral attitude justified by biblical passages shown here.

But I'm not going to settle on any one of those, or anything like that. No, I'm just going to say this...

Bodgie Hodge, you're a douche. So is anyone who agrees with you, and so is anyone who uses your website as a guide to how to live their hollow lives. You're a disgrace to the human race and to the society that has fostered people like yourselves, and your attitudes and the attitudes of those who support you are vile in the truest sense of the word. People like you, and people who support you, are morally reprehensible and act as nothing more than social parasites.

[i]east1427: "It's the wasps, Declan! The bloody wasps!"

So, Gitfinda hit 80. I dinged it after completing a somewhat epic quest-chain that involved riding a giant acid-spitting worm and attacking a mountain-sized mechanomagical golem. In an encounter that wasn’t laden with symbolism at all.

Not a lot else, if we’re honest. Apart from the never-ending pain in my damned shoulder.

[i]beatonna: fairy tales

Remember, Montreal! I'm going to be at Expozine this weekend! You should come.

I realized today that the comic I was working on was going to take longer than I thought, so I made these up real quick before I take off for Montreal! You go to one of these things, and it's four days gone like a flash. Not that anyone checks the internet on the weekend, but still. In any case, I like the Kiss elves.

Store!

[i]shortpacked: Thighmasters of the Universe

Shortpacked!: To touch a booby, perchance to dream.

Today's strip is based on a real comment I read on Mattycollector's Facebook page. I saw it and I was like whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa? I was robbed of drawing Adora, but I really think showing the actual toy photo drives in the point a little more pointedly. Lord knows I tend to draw my thighs a little chunky anyway.

Anyway, there was a period of time yesterday in which I was feeling I was kinda mean in my previous two strips towards IDW for their dumb comic book. But then today they deleted a swath of critical posts from their message forums, and I changed my mind. Apparently they just deleted an area of a thread where one of their moderators went totally nuts and called everyone morons and exploded in a fury of crazy? Well.

To the right is my Two-Face! I was debating for a while whether to hunt down this much older black/white Two-Face or just buy (loose off eBay) the orange/purple one that you can find everywhere in that $55 Walmart-exclusive DCUC five-pack.

So I asked my peeps! Aeire demanded monochrome. Eric Burns-White demanded crazy. I was actually kinda liking the crazy one, just for variety's sake, since my Bruce Timm-style Two-Face is black/white-suited. And the orange/purple was his original colors. But, y'know, I do really like the black/white suit.

Anyway, I saw a (relatively) cheap black/white one on eBay and the decision was made. Aeire wins! Sorry, Eric.

He's Riddler's body, being the original use of the mold, but he has a different head and a tommy gun. Oh, and this one doesn't have two left legs. Not that, again, I can tell. (In fact, the legs are so similar it took a while to really figure it out for certain.)

But hey! Two-Face! He's important! And now I have him.

[i]east1427: "I'd be a foot taller than anyone who'd ever lived there."

And Gitfinda finally explored the entire world. He got a tabard and a title (Gitfinda the Explorer) out of the deal, and it was certainly harder than his Alliance predecessor to the title, Whiplash. Thing is, none of the Horde starting zones are islands that you can only reach by an enemy-controlled boat, unlike the entire set of Draenei starting areas and the Night Elf starting area. And to access and explore these areas, none of them require riding through a Horde capital city. To explore the Night Elf ones, you need to ride straight through the place. So Gitfinda, and all other noble Horde Explorers, deserve a bit more kudos than their Alliance counterparts.

Also watched the rest of the first disc of Gurren Lagann. I really rather enjoyed it, and annoyingly to watch the rest of the boxed set I have to wait for LoveFilm to send me it. I’d actually go forth and buy it, but Play are selling it for £25 (£35RRP). And there are another two sets. So, no, not buying it just yet.

I also picked up a massive stack of comics, mostly the end of BPRD 1947, Witchfinder and an Abe Sapien one-shot. After having a run through them, I’m in dire need of some decent books on mythological entities.

So because my birthday is looking to be a bit of a wet squib this year (nobody's even asked for my address), I've been thinking of treating myself instead. To one of these.

Yeah, the ultimate symbol of sad loser geekdom, a statue of my WoW character.

I mean, it'll make a change from getting myself a book or something, y'know.

And to be fair, my character is pretty neat. Well, see for yourself;

Hey everyone! I'm in need of money right now, so I thought it would be a good time to sell some of the doujinshi I bought while in Japan last summer. They are mostly xKaiji, but there are also some exceptions. :^)

[i]the_wise_mankey: "I know. You want THAT, right?"

Seems Ame didn't waste time after getting the Morrigan pic done to finish up the pic I actually paid her for. This has been a lucky week for me, hasn't it? :)

Anyway, this time it's Dr. Naomi from No More Heroes.

I think it's pretty obvious why I got Ame to draw her. She's the biggest NMH fangirl around, so having her draw this was like putting a hand into a custom-made glove. The perfect fit.

As for the pic itself, I personally felt Naomi was the most attractive woman in the game over the likes of Bad Girl, Holly Summers, AND Sylvia. Sad thing is she didn't have much of a role in the game outside of supplying Travis Touchdown with new beam swords and then dismissing him off with "You OTAKU."

So I felt she needs more fanart out there more since there's more then enough of the other characters. And BOY did Ame give this pic a real bang-up job in more ways then one. Hopefully when Desperate Struggle comes out we'll see a lot more of Naomi.

BTW, did you know Naomi spelled backwards is "I moan?" *THWACK'D*

[i]shortpacked: Sacred defecations

Shortpacked!: I'm going to get so many people mailing me about the intentional typos, aren't I?

So I guess I have an almost-complete Kalibak now?  I got his torso a long time ago with Killer Moth.  I didn't really have any use for a Kalibak torso in the conventional way, so I used it throughout the summer to wedge my window open to let a breeze through.

Sometimes it would fall out the window, and I'd go outside and bring it back in and wedge my window open with him again.  And at some point he fell out during heavy rain.  Well, I'm not going outside to retrieve him now!, I thought.  And then I forgot about him.  And then he was pretty disgusting.

But the Man-Bat that Feywulf had mailed me arrived today, and holy crap, there were a pile of Kalibak parts with him.  So out I went, dug Kaliback out of the muddy ground, washed him up best I could, and now I have a Kalibak.  Well, a left-legless Kalibak.

See, his left leg comes with Captain Marvel!  Mike Wickliff sent me a free loose Captain Marvel along with my Riddler.  He asked me at the time if I wanted any build-a-fig parts.  Well what were the chances I'd ever end up with a nigh-complete Kalibak?  So I told him no.

Oops.

Edit: Anyway, Mike got back to me and my Kalibak leg will be on its way!  Huzzah!

Reminder: Just two days left to bid on the Mike/Amber Smoochy-Smoochy original page!  You know, if you have upwards of $325 to throw around.  Holy Crap: Reprise.

[i]east1427: "Everything is fine here and back to normal."

WoW happened. Dinged 79, and went exploring. And waited an exceptional amount of time for one of the battleground queues. Urgh. Still never got in. But hey, a spot of exploration helps.

Once again I had stuff floating around my head, but the sheer crushing mundanity of the office killed all that stone dead. Tired. Bored. Headache. Bollocks to it.

Also, seems there’s another Call of Duty game out. If only I gave tuppence about that.

[i]beatonna: Dry Matches

I got a comment about my last comic saying that it condoned smoking, but I don't, that is nonsense! You should also not lasso cats out of trees, if that doesn't go without saying. Historical smoking is another matter, go ahead and have a smoke in the trench, but I advise against lighting three cigarettes at night.

Remembrance Day always makes me ruminative about the place of history in our current consciences, because it is one of the few holidays where we are explicitly told listen you have to remember this thing that happened ok and, one, people pay attention, two, there is nothing jamming the line like bbq's or parties or football games or chocolate eggs or presents. History: You should give a shit, who knew.

Just so we are clear though, I don't really care about Queen Victoria's birthday either so go ahead and slam it back on May 24 weekend, fireworks and the whole bit. Honestly we should all get free corgis on Victoria Day.

Is it bad that I didn't even notice everyone around me were being very quiet for two minutes until they started talking again?

Is it bad that I was silent, purely because I'm normally a quiet type and nobody noticed I'd forgotten what time it was?

I'll have to try harder next year.

It's my birthday on the 20th of this month. That's NEXT FRIDAY. Second one since my mother passed away. Hopefully it'll be as nice as it was last years. I've sent out links to some friends with my Amazon Birthday Wishlist if anyone wants to send anything. If anyone wants to send a card, drop me a private message and I'll forward my address to you. Nobody has wanted to do either yet, but you can always be the first.

The Nostalgia Critic pays tribute to Siskel and Ebert.

I never actually watched their shows, but I knew of them enough from the parodies and cameos from other shows. I even remember an episode of Garfield and Friends where they had mice versions of them.

But this is a nice retrospective on the men that argued their way to movie critic legends. Take a look if you wanna know more.

I have more to say but mom's urging me off the computer.

[i]the_wise_mankey: "That's the most attractive religious anti-sematic sadist I've ever seen!"

Well, I'm on a roll with commissions this week. So here's one by Meta of Lilium Lashiec and Lisa Knoxville.

Yeah, they ARE MILFs. I'm not really one for MILFs because I personally would feel wrong for being attracted to someone's mother. Especially when the whole thing with Edge and Vickie Guerrero happened ages ago. Anything that happened with them were probably the most disturbing images I've ever seen in my life. And I've seen the Goatse pic and 2 Girls 1 Cup. They were NOTHING compared to the Edge and Vickie storyline.

However, considering the attractiveness of the mothers of Ame from Heartcore and Meta from Shades of Green, they DO make good cases for themselves at least. So I felt this pic was appropriate to make. There will be one just like it done by Ame in due time, as soon as my other order with her is finished.

Stay tuned, two others by Kirb are coming in due course.

P.S. The game Fat Princess for the PS3 is HARD. And yet, so addicting.
